Thanks to today’s advances in orthodontic technology, Saracino Orthodontics can provide our patients with more options when it comes to wearing braces than ever before. While traditional metal braces are still widely used, clear braces are very popular with teens and adults who are self-conscious about wearing braces, along with Invisalign removable aligners, the “braceless” alternative to straight teeth. Dr. Catherine Saracino will help you determine which treatment option is right for you.
Damon Braces (Metal)
Traditional metal braces are the most common type of brace used today. The metal brace that we use in our office is the Damon System, which is a revolutionary way to straighten teeth. The Damon brace is self-ligating, which means that the brace has a door built into it, so the colored ties are no longer necessary. These braces are smaller and more comfortable than ever before, and they are constructed of high-grade space age metal alloys. With the Damon System, treatment times with many patients are reduced, while maintaining maximum patient comfort. Click here to read more about the revolutionary Damon System.
Damon Braces (Ceramic)
Damon Clear has clear advantages over traditional braces. Virtually invisible, Damon Clear is part of the innovative Damon System, which combines tieless braces with high technology archwires that are clinically proven to move teeth more efficiently and comfortably with a beautiful, healthy, and confident smile as your finished result. Damon Clear braces are made of materials, such as ceramic and polycarbonate, and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, clear braces are used mainly on teenage and adult patients who have aesthetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do still require attention to oral hygiene. The drawback to clear braces is that they are more fragile and the braces and elastic ties can discolor between orthodontic visits with certain foods and smoking.
Clear appliances, such as Invisalign, use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners to straighten your teeth. No one can tell you are wearing those aligners because they are invisible! Invisalign aligners are removable so you are not limited in what you can eat and drink during treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are less of a hassle. The aligners are comfortable and have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Click here to read more about Invisalign now.
